The first quarter of 2013 is about to close! Once again, we celebrate Holy Week. On the morning of Palm Sunday, a familiar sight greeted me: clusters of parishioners trooping to church carrying young coconut leaves to commemorate Christ’s triumphal entry to Jerusalem.
As I recalled this event in history, I couldn’t help but ponder the fact that the crowd that lay their coats down to welcome Jesus, singing “Hosanna in the Highest” was the very same crowd that condemned Him and shouted, “Crucify Him!” And as we fast forward to the end of His excruciating trial, Jesus utters, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
